Na iTukuni National Art Gallery

BRAND STRATEGY, BRAND IDENTITY, CREATIVE DIRECTION, ILLUSTRATION + GALLERY-WIDE ROLLOUT

Na iTukuni is Fiji’s future National Art Gallery, created to provide a dedicated home for the country’s artists, cultural knowledge and diverse creative practices. While the gallery’s development is still underway, its completed brand identity establishes a culturally grounded foundation for the national institution it will become.

We developed the brand around the idea of a Living Archive, positioning Na iTukuni as a future space where Fiji’s stories can be preserved, expressed and carried forward through movement, fibre, sound and form. The central logo mark brings together five interlocking symbols, each representing one of the gallery’s guiding values: unbounded creativity, nurturing artists, safeguarding culture and identity, mutual service and reciprocity, and connection to the vanua.

The wider visual system combines earthy colour, tactile imagery, custom icons and a suite of patterns inspired by the geometric structure of traditional ibe weaving. Together, these elements create a layered identity that feels rooted in place while remaining contemporary, recognisable and adaptable across print, digital and environmental applications.

The completed identity provides direction for future exhibition posters, gallery banners, signage, wayfinding, stationery, digital platforms, staff collateral, merchandise and launch communications. Each application has been designed to support the welcoming, multidisciplinary gallery experience envisioned for Na iTukuni when its doors open.

The result is a culturally meaningful brand system ready to grow alongside the gallery’s development. It gives Na iTukuni a strong foundation from which to support Fiji’s artists, represent its creative communities and carry the country’s cultural and artistic voice forward in the years ahead.
